Beesands Garden Party
The Garden Party held at Beesands at the end of June 2009, at the home of
Jenny and Chris, was enjoyed by all who came. Beautiful weather and
very attractive garden and house.
At a meeting in Cornwall, prior to the launch of the Cornwall Dystonia Support Group, Janet made the following comments;
"I see the future of our Plymouth and South Devon branch developing in this way next year. We have been finding our feet so far and have just been meeting together for meals, talks and planning for the future. I strongly believe we need to meet more often in small groups where we live. That is, we all live in various parts of Devon, not just Plymouth, big as that is on its own. each of us individually could, if we are physically able (if not, involve a friend or family member), to hold a coffee morning and invite your neighbours, friends, family, church members etc. Alternatives include tea afternoons, cheese and wine evenings, music evenings, whist drives or whatever else you enjoy for example dominos, beetledrives, scrabble evenings, Rummikub etc. This will probably raise more for research than us just getting together every two to three months. All sorts of things which will definitely inform more people about dystonia and raise the profile. After each event get a report in the local papers to publicise the Society and our local support group and any bigger events we plan. It's all free advertising. Get posters put up in clinics, opticians, GP surgeries, hospitals, church halls etc".
